Delta Dagger Posted January 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2018 Hi guys, fake or real deal? Thanks
Randy Posted January 20, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 20, 2018 I would say fake. This was a short lived, unofficial patch worn between 1977 and 1982. It replaced the tradition bee patch when the F-15 Eagle arrived. They also changed the unit nickname from Stingers to Adlers (German for eagle). All very unofficial, and put to an end mid 82 when they went back to the bee. I was in the unit 81-83, so I have a good understanding of what transpired there. Attached is an original patch. They are US made with a merrowed edge, never saw anything else worn.

Steindaddie Posted January 29, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2018 In the late 70's there was a comment in the Air Force Times from a former member of the 22nd who was not at all pleased that the patch had been changed. "Who are these guys to change the patch design just because they got new airplanes" or words to that effect.
