Buzzacott Stove/Cooking Outfit

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any images or actual photos of a Buzzacott Stove/Cooking Outfit? It was the standard field cooking stove issued to US troops during both the Spanish-American War and the Philippines Insurrection, with about 5,000 being purchased for the Army and several hundred for the Marine Corps. Am writing an article for publication in Marine Corps History magazine, and am looking for a clear photo or even images of an existing one in someone's collection. Thanks!

Doug - did you find any photos of the Buzzacotts oven? Just found a reference saying that companies were provided with "one army field oven, 'Buzzacotts'." Would love to see one of these things.

Peter - thanks for asking. No luck yet! Out of over 10,000 manufactured, there has to be one of them left somewhere to photograph!

I have probably a 1000 or more photos from the period and a number of them are the ubiquitous camp mess or kitchens. I will keep an eye out. As far as surviving examples hopefully at least one or more did, but those later world war scrap drives were pretty efficient....
