3 cased sets of ship identification models

Recommended Posts

These came in the door today...cased sets of US, German and British ship identification models. Don received these as a gift from his father about 60 years ago; his Dad found them at an Army-Navy surplus store (obviously back in the good old days before BDUs and beef jerky became the staple items). The cases are in great shape as are the ships..a few might have some very minor metal deterioration, but there's no broken masts, guns, etc...

Pretty neat. Is that Don in the picture? A saw a set of these once. I probably should have bought it.

Yes, that's Don and his wife Linda.

I've seen singles of these and have always hoped to find one or two (never have). These are amazing! What a treasure!

I do not profess to be a militaria expert, but I conduct as much research as I am capable of and then write about my findings.
Check out my blogs, The Veteran's Collection (general militaria) and Chevrons and Diamonds (military baseball)

There are collectors who collect these miniature models.

Some of the enemy larger ships go for hundreds.

I once got 2000 for a Scharnhorst at a toy show.

It was 16'' long though one of the bigger ones.

One of the commanding officers of the Great Lakes navy base lived in York pa.

When I finished cleaning out the house I had over 100 of the larger scale navy ID models.

I ran them all through a toy auction in pa
