Hello guys.... I have purchased a HGU-56 helicopter helmet and the man has a set of NVGs that go with it that he is selling as well. They are clearly stamped US property and I am concerned. This because they are not cheap. What are your thoughts about owning a set of the NVGs, would you buy them and what are they selling for on the collectors market.

Be very careful, recieving stolen property knowing its " hot" can be serious. Check to see if any have been released to the public.

Yes, not really into receiving stolen property. I recently found a helmet that had been stolen 30 years ago and gave it back. I do not think these have been released to the public yet. As for the seller, he lives in the "better" part of town and he does not seem like a dirtbag. Although he does look like he is now or was military recently, they very likely could be as you stated "hot"

Older NVGs are available, but I'm not sure about AN/AVS-9s. They are a controlled item I believe and if they were in the system previously they were probably deemed "lost" rather than "stolen". Of course, they are most likely serial numbered also.

If just looking for display, passable repops are available on ebay for less than $50.00. Look under Anvis.

Thanks for alerting me about these! I didn't have an extra $2,500 lying around for ANVIS-6s to mount on my personal SPH-4, but I got a repro pair for $17.99 off ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/TMC-Dummy-ANVIS9-Black-TMC2885-BK/132399670328?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49454%26meid%3D8c07cc1c8e8147e3aa6e8e7579dbf36e%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D132399670328&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%253A2c6c7cf4-f2e1-11e7-bf16-74dbd180619c%257Cparentrq%253Acb8c4f8b1600aa472cd5cb46ffdfa21d%257Ciid%253A1

What he said. As a matter of fact, if you want to PM his contact info to me, I may know someone who would be interested in acquiring them.
