horridohutch Posted January 5, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2018 Hello guys.... I have purchased a HGU-56 helicopter helmet and the man has a set of NVGs that go with it that he is selling as well. They are clearly stamped US property and I am concerned. This because they are not cheap. What are your thoughts about owning a set of the NVGs, would you buy them and what are they selling for on the collectors market. USARV72 Posted January 5, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 5, 2018 Be very careful, recieving stolen property knowing its " hot" can be serious. Check to see if any have been released to the public.

Check to see if any have been released to the public. Yes, not really into receiving stolen property. I recently found a helmet that had been stolen 30 years ago and gave it back. I do not think these have been released to the public yet. As for the seller, he lives in the "better" part of town and he does not seem like a dirtbag. Although he does look like he is now or was military recently, they very likely could be as you stated "hot"
MattS Posted January 5, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 5, 2018 Older NVGs are available, but I'm not sure about AN/AVS-9s. They are a controlled item I believe and if they were in the system previously they were probably deemed "lost" rather than "stolen". Of course, they are most likely serial numbered also. Thanks for alerting me about these! I didn't have an extra $2,500 lying around for ANVIS-6s to mount on my personal SPH-4, but I got a repro pair for $17.99 off ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/TMC-Dummy-ANVIS9-Black-TMC2885-BK/132399670328?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49454%26meid%3D8c07cc1c8e8147e3aa6e8e7579dbf36e%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D132399670328&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%253A2c6c7cf4-f2e1-11e7-bf16-74dbd180619c%257Cparentrq%253Acb8c4f8b1600aa472cd5cb46ffdfa21d%257Ciid%253A1
FtrPlt Posted January 6, 2018 Share #7 Posted January 6, 2018 I'm nearly certain that the ANVIS 9 is available for purchase by the public. They are export restricted but I'm pretty sure Medevac helicopter companies have been using them for years https://ownthenight.com/mounts-accessories/product/447-anvis-9-night-vision-aviator-s-goggles/category_pathway-36.html#.WlDnTdQrIts
mohawkALSE Posted January 6, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 6, 2018 There are 9s for sale but would be marked M949 and not US either. I don't think any Mil 9s would be for sale yet, maybe older Army AVS-6 goggles that have been rebuilt.

What he said. As a matter of fact, if you want to PM his contact info to me, I may know someone who would be interested in acquiring them.
