all-bull Posted January 3, 2018 #1 Posted January 3, 2018 Hey guys, I came across a tin box full of militaria recently, and I have reason to believe that all of this belongs to Zebulon C. Hopkins, and there may be more that belonged to him that I haven't gone thru yet. I know there is an Air Medal coffin case that I did not picture, and none of the medals are named, sadly. There is at least one set of Wolf Brown style Wide ribbons There are also a ton of other miscellaneous officer rank insignias from the 1920-40s, that I can only assume also belonged to him. The Haitian medal is the neatest part to me, as I don't think it was awarded to very many people, and Mr. Hopkins was certainly there, thanks to another forum member's help. It appears to be US made, not French style like most of the ones seen on the internet. However, I have not been able to find another example of a US made one. Anyway, medals are probably my weakest area of collecting, and I would like to see if anyone can tell me if all of this looks like it goes together. The ribbons for the Haitian medal are almost all faded out, as you will see from the pictures. Maybe poor dye choice? Does anyone know what the red-backed bullion coffin bars are for? Lastly, I am seriously considering selling this grouping, once I get it all sorted through and was wondering what an approximate value may be? Here is some information on the man who I am pretty sure it belongs to (and once again, thank you to the forum!!), and there are also a few more small articles on the web about him, but nothing that speaks about his assignments like what is posted in the link below. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/300322-col-zebulon-c-hopkins-usmc-mag-14-circa-1944/ Thanks!!

Brig Posted January 3, 2018 #8 Posted January 3, 2018 Looks like it all belongs together. Minus the Army PFC chevron. Most of the ribbons are post-war, 3/8" instead of 1/2". And the red backed bullion bars are ranks for officer shoulder epaulettes Love the minis
KASTAUFFER Posted January 3, 2018 #9 Posted January 3, 2018 Group looks good. No issues from what I see. I really like this group, Kurt
KASTAUFFER Posted January 3, 2018 #10 Posted January 3, 2018 The red backed bars are from his mess dress uniform, Kurt
huntssurplus Posted January 3, 2018 #12 Posted January 3, 2018 Really great grouping! Thanks for sharing!Hunt
