Thought I would share this uniform with the white wound diamond and 3rd division patch from this fine marine that was wounded on Bouganville Nov 11,1943. He was with Co,B 1st Bn, 3rd Marines. He landed on green 2, they made there way up with the 2nd marine raiders on the Numa-Numa trail which known as the battle of Coconut Grove , On Nov11 where this battle began, This is probably where he was wounded on patrol with the 1st Bn and than evacuate. He was from Florida.

On the battlefield, Pfc Edward Ahrens, an Able Company BAR man, lay dying, soaked in his own blood.

As his company commander, Lew Walt cradled him in his arms, he surveyed the scene around them. Nearby lay a Japanese officer, a sergeant, and thirteen enlisted men, all dead. Ahrens had been shot twice in the chest and bayoneted three times. He whispered to Walt, "Captain, they tried to come over me last night, but I don't think they made it." Choking back tears, Walt replied softly, "They didn't, Eddy. They didn't."

Here is my only 2015 SOS find, I owned this Uniform 10 years ago ,I was offered it back. Since it was my first uniform. I had to buy it back. I and very happy to own it again It is named with pants also named. He was in the 4th Div,4th Tank Bn, Fought on Tinan,Roi Numar,Saipan and Iwo Jima, He also earned the Marine Life Saving Medal in 1943 in California, Which the owner still has officially engrave in the Red Box, Which he promised me when he decides to sell it.I have posted a copy of his Citation He also earned a Commendation for Saipan as a Tank Driver being surrounded by Japanese forces , And Fought them off ,Killing many during the operation with little regard of the dangers. What a Marine. To survive the war being in all those campaigns and not even being wounded. I am hoping to get a picture of his tank, Could be tough.

Pl SGT John L Skog, 3rd Division Co,L 9th Marines.

He was from Minneapolis Minnesota. He fought on Bougainville ,Guam and Iwo Jima . He enlisted in 2 Jan 1942. He received the Meritorious service on Bougainville. He was also caught being drunk and was reprimanded by the marines. Most marines like to drink. He must have seen a lot of action being a PL SGT to a rifle company on all 3 campaigns.

Here is another Marine uniform I have, He was in the 5th Division Company E, 2BN, 26th Marines, And was all so a Paratrooper in Company B, 4th Para BN. Before he went into the 5th Division.

On Feb 24th after a week off hitting the beaches of Iwo Jima, His Company E, was meeting heavy enemy fire, One of the Marine Machine gunners succeeded in placing his gun in position about one hundred yards ahead of our lines. After a prolonged period of firing he called back for more ammunition and a spare parts kit. Private first class John V heard this request and procured the supplies . I saw him run to the gun through heavy small arms fire and mortar fire, He delivered the supplies and stayed there assisting the gunner. He attempted to return to our position for more ammunition and was killed on the way. Eye witness account by Marine pvt Earl Harris.. He was put in for his heroic actions a Silver Star. And was down graded to the bronze star. What a marine he was .And was from Nebraska . He was 23 years old. I,m a proud to be the care taker of his Alpha named to him only. KIA Alpha's are very rare to fine, They where usually recycled back in to service .

Hree is one of my Marine silver star WIA uniform from Iwo Jima to a 2nd Lt from Bagley Minnisota. he was with Company F 3rd BN, 27th marines 5th Division.

Here is his Silver Star Citation for march 16,1945.The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant Kenneth S. Nelson (MCSN: 0-32961), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while attached to Company I, Third Battalion, Twenty-seventh Marines, FIFTH Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands, 28 February, 1945. When his Company Commander was mortally wounded during an intense hostile mortar barrage upon the company's night position, Second Lieutenant Nelson immediately assumed command of the company and, braving fire from the enemy attempting to infiltrate through a gap on his left flank, reorganized his men and reestablished contact on the flank before the Japanese could infiltrate in force. By his courage and initiative, he prevented the enemy from penetrating his lines at a time when such an infiltration would have been costly to the organization of the entire Regimental front. His leadership, initiative and devotion to duty reflect the highest credit upon Second Lieutenant Nelson and the United States Naval Service. He was all so wounded on that day by a GSW to the left arm while giving orders to his men to attack the enemy. He was all so promoted to First Lt for his time on IWO JIMA. After Iwo,He ended up in Occupied Japan. He stay in the Marines in till the end of the war. And made Capt.I just Noticed LT Nelson is on page 89 in the marine 5th Division unit history Stating that his CO is mortally wounded and that he should take command 0n Iwo Jima, D Plus 9 ,Hill 362. ,That he should pull his men back about 200 hundred yards on the slope of the hill. Their was fierce fighting on that Hill 362,A lot of marines where Killed and wounded trying to take that Hill.
