MMcollector Posted December 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2017 United States Army Sergeant Ray L. Billingsley (Service # 20530557) was born April 20th 1917 in Summer Shade, Kentucky. He was a highschool graduate and Indiana National Guardsmen before the United States entered World War II. He enlisted in the Army as a Sergeant in the Infantry Jan. 17th 1941 in Darlington Indiana. Sgt. Billingsley was awarded this Purple Heart medal for wounds received during World War II. After his military service Ray Billingsley married Anna M. Stewart on Dec. 15th 1947 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Ray and Anna lived the rest of heir lives in Crawfordsville. Ray passed away Nov. 19th 1978 & he is buried at the Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery, Montgomery County Indiana. Anna passed away Feb. 8th 2009 & she is buried next to her husband.
