Matt4thCav Posted December 20, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 20, 2017 Hi everyone, I found a very interesting photo. These are the 13th Reg. Mechanized cavalry. The soldier at left wearing a pair of M1917 cavalry leggins. By regulation they would not have the M1938 gaiters. From what I understand it is the stock funds that have remained since before 1936, when the regiment was motorized. What do you think? Thanks Matteo
atb Posted December 20, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2017 Also very interesting are the dust respirators pushed up on to the M1917A1 helmets.

patches Posted December 21, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 21, 2017 If what you mean is that Old Stocks of these Mounted leggings were used up before new leggings (Dismounted) were issued, then yes, as this was a horse regiment till it became a Mech one in 1936, and no doubt had a lot of them still, not to mention those soldiers who already had the old type issued to them. 124cav Posted December 28, 2017 Share #6 Posted December 28, 2017 Great photo, its interesting to note that these mounted leggings had been superseded by 2 different riding boots, these would have been out of place on horse troops at this period too. Other horse equipment on display is rifle scabbards and possibly a water bottle pouch latched to the scabbard.
