littlewilly Posted December 18, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2017 Hello! This appears to me to be a "Gold Star Mother" medal, issued to mothers who lost sons in WWI. I have not seen this particular one before, but it has similarities to others I have seen for sale. States and communities across the country stepped up after the war to help with the healing process for mothers grieving for their lost boys. There does not appear to be any kind of standard with them. I do not collect these medals, so can only offer the above to help in your quest for information. I would assume they were issued well into the 20's and maybe the 30's as remains were discovered after the war and returned home. MHJ
