The Iron Brigade Posted December 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2017 This year marks the 67th Anniversary of the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. While in the midst of the 100th Anniversaries of WW I, I don't want the sacrifice of the Frozen Chosin to be forgotten. The 1st Marine Division is most remembered for the Battle of Chosin, but they weren't alone. The US Army's 31st Infantry was there and so was 41 Independent Commando Royal Marines. Both the UN Forces and the Chinese soldiers had it rough. This is a great website for those wanting to know more about Chosin: http://www.chosinreservoir.com/ This is one of the better documentaries: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DerCtuu76P00&ved=0ahUKEwjWyY2d-I_YAhXK6oMKHUnDCtcQtwIIPTAI&usg=AOvVaw2PzhOULd3FfNKPnYiGUNXd
Blacksmith Posted December 17, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 17, 2017 Thank you for posting this. If you've not read "The Last Stand of Fox Company", I would really recommend it. To your point of not letting this conflict / their sacrifice be subordinated or forgotten, this book really brought it into jarring focus for me. Rakkasan187 Posted December 17, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 17, 2017 I will echo what Blacksmith has stated about "The Last Stand of Fox Company". A wonderful book and a close friend of mine Bob Gaines is mentioned several times in the book. Bob was in Fox Company and in the thick of the battle. He was a career Marine, a China Marine and he retired as a First Sergeant. He was an incredible person and dear friend. Bob passed a few years ago but I am grateful to have spent many years with him. When he passed his wife Carol, a Marine Captain gave me many of his uniforms and other items.. The Chosin was a desperate battle fought by many brave men...
