Championhilz Posted November 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 10, 2008 This is my latest find, a WW I portrait of Major Lucian Dent Booth, taken in Tours France. A native of Mississippi, Booth was a graduate of West Point in 1907, and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Coastal Artillery. He served thirteen months in France during World War I. I was able to obtain a copy of his WW I statement of service record from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, and according to the document, in 1920 he applied for a World War I Victory Medal with 4 clasps: Ypres-Lys, Meuse-Argonne, Somme Offensive, and Defensive Sector. The picture itself is in great shape, very clear, and I must say that Booth is wearing the largest 1st Army Patch I have ever seen.

cthomas Posted November 10, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 10, 2008 Great image! I'm a sucker for good portrait photos such as this. Also, excellent work on the research. Can't say enough about how important that part of collecting is! Even though this is a large scan, I still can't make out what's on the 1st Army patch. Is there any more detail on the original?
