Little Posted November 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 26, 2017 There is currently on ebay a DSM described as an "original WWII Navy Distinguished Service Medal", with a bid of $121.50. The photo appears to show it having a slot brooch rather than a wrap brooch. Aside from the slot brooch, to me it doesn't appear to be a vintage DSM, but I'm not an expert. I'd be interested to know what other members of the forum think about this medal. Sorry but I don't know how to post a photo from ebay. Thanks
Little Posted November 26, 2017 Author Share #2 Posted November 26, 2017 Sorry, I meant to put this topic on the Medals discussion page, not the for sale page. Can a moderator please move it to the appropriate place?
WittWorldWide.com Posted November 27, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2017 That is NOT a WW2 Era USN DSM.... Wrong Brooch, Wrong Ribbon, Wrong Planchet. (Original WW2 Strikes have a distinctive beveled edge to start...) More likely a recent strike that someone put a slot brooch on, and put in a 1950s-60s Era Clear Plastic case...
