Blacksmith Posted November 14, 2017 Share #27 Posted November 14, 2017 My my Robin, I like that a lot. Thanks for the pics. Here's a British Made machete in a US scabbard. Both have a GI's laundry mark on them. This set came out of a local flea market about 20 years ago for $8. There are no military markings on the machete. oldabewla Posted November 17, 2017 Share #28 Posted November 17, 2017 What I've always seen is any WWII British military field gear, clothing, slings and ect. is always board arrow acceptance marked if not I would say it for the civilian market. War time civilian machetes could very well been pressed into service? But think it's 1950's ? There is a difference in the camo machete blade and Robinbs issued brit blade one is Eng and other is stamped England. I like Robinb's 1945 machete that's what I would look for and buy! stealthytyler Posted November 17, 2017 Author Share #29 Posted November 17, 2017 The scabbard is the most interesting piece here though. Would love to know if it was part of a paratroopers kit.
Corpsmancollector Posted November 17, 2017 Share #30 Posted November 17, 2017 It's a great item and Robin's goes some way to helping confirm that it could be a war time marriage of US / British items. The camouflage is nice and looks period in my opinion. Unfortunately I don't think there will be a way to confirm who used this and what unit they were a member of. But it's still a nice item.
