Sarge8 Posted November 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2017 Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but since it deals with a Nurse grouping......... Was anybody else on here bidding on the extensive Nurse grouping of Grace McCord and find out it was ended early this morning! There were 7 lots total with a very complete set of uniforms and paper. Early on I had offered to buy the complete lot to keep it together and was told, she "would not do anything that was not allowed. Plus, it is not fair to other bidders. " Now suddenly it must be allowed and is fair to the other bidders. Supposedly a reenactment group bought it and promises to keep it together and preserve it. Funny, that's what I said I was going to do- except for the part about wearing it to all kinds of dusty, hot sweaty events and tailoring it fit. Grrrrr- oh well. Time for another coffee! Sorry for the rant. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=302518458815 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=302518458614 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=302518458120 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=302518457295 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=302518456405 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=302518456780 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=302518455973

huntssurplus Posted November 12, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 12, 2017 I might have just bid the $50 dollar amount on all of the lots, that way the seller could not have ended the auctions. I do find this annoying though and have had similar things happen to me. I hope that the reenactment group wont wear it to events but rather display it, but I have been to reenactments where it rains and all of the stuff gets drenched and really wet. in the end I can see why the seller would sell it to them because of them being more like a "museum" rather then a private collector. The item can not be ended if there are active bids on the item I thought...? Hunt
Sarge8 Posted November 13, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted November 13, 2017 Apparently they can. There were several of us bidding. If someone got all 7 lots, they would have paid $1000 or more the way bidding was going.
Mr.Jerry Posted November 13, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 13, 2017 As a seller you can just "cancel bids" and then cancel the auction. But I do have to point out the irony in the OP posting complaining that they got beat at their own game. Sorry, but my rant is how many "will you end it early and sell it to me?" emails I get. Why don't you guys just pony up and try and win an auction the old fashioned way? Why submarine everyone? When did it become "all's fair in love, war and collecting militaria?" - ok my rant is over. Neat group by the way.
trinitykitty24 Posted November 13, 2017 Share #9 Posted November 13, 2017 I was high bidder on most of this grouping! Boy was I pissed. I was also given the bs reenacting group excuse.
Salvage Sailor Posted November 13, 2017 Share #10 Posted November 13, 2017 Many times I've seen items I've bid on ended early by the seller due to "an error in the listing".......

I thought it was part of the low ball bidding strategy, bid early so the seller cant take it down, good to know for future reference. Hunt
