39th Troop Carrier Squadron Jungle Skippers DUI

I picked this one up today. At first I thought it may be a veterans type pin, but the patent date on the back puts it pre WW2. The Troop carrier squadron was formed in 1942. Is this a DUI ? Thanks for the assistance in advance. This coin was also stuck in the back of the pin. They were in the Philippines....?

I don't know about the DUI part, but I can answer about the patent that is pre-WWII. That is the patent for that pin piece on the back. Nothing to do with the era of the pin itself. Just means that that actual pin design (and I mean the metal pin, not the front design) was patented pre-WWII.
