Really neat photos!!!

Fussen is halfway between Munich and Salzburg, near the Alps. I'll see if I can't find out which squadron was in Fussen in '48. I seem to remember reading that one or more Constab squadrons were inactivated there.

Oberstaufen is about 10 miles west of the old SS school (and US Constab school after WWII) in Sonthofen.

The Schumann Theater was in downtown Frankfurt a/M. It was turned back to the Germans in the very early '50s. They must have been up there on leave.

Post 50, upper right photo is interesting - looks like an LT, wearing "pickle tank" brass. Hard to tell from the photo, but his trousers appear to be dark; not "pinks"?

"This is taken in the main part of town. It is now a P.X. You see the tarrace where I checked in. I ate a banana split up there one day. Just call me big shot."

Mindelheim, Germany '46

The boots in the bottom pic are modified 3 buckle cavalry boots

That top photo takes me waaaaay back to the early '60s. The Hondells and The Beach Boys both did a cover on a song that went like this:

"Second gear, lean right (Honda, Honda, goin' faster, faster)

Third gear, hang on tight (Honda, Honda, goin' faster, faster)

Faster, it's all right."

:P

El Bibliotecario
... Peiper burned to death c. 1955 at home. Got off on a tangent here for sure.

To add to the tangent, Peiper burned to death, but it was in 1976...in France. I was in Germany at the time and recall reading of it. I sensed the French police did not spend an undue amount of time investigating the arson.
