Very interesting... I like the embroidered patches on older green twill and the straight exposed button flap pockets.

 

I've never seen reinforced shoulder pad/fabric under the shoulder tab loops. Could the whole shirt be theater made?

Looks to be RVN made, style, early non rip stop and there seems to be faded red tailors stamp in yoke? Have you checked it with black light? Super nice shirt!

This is an ARVN pattern shirt from the early part of the US involvement.

 

The badges on the right are for a parachute qualification and an ARVN Ranger badge.

 

This would be unusual. The South Vietnamese Army did not have an "Airborne Ranger" concept

Like the US Army. ARVN soldiers generally wore one or the other, but not both. Further, they were typically assigned to either an Airborne unit or a Ranger unit.

 

This gives some credence to the idea it may have been worn by an American who had served with both types of units.

 

I'd note that sometimes ARVN soldiers also wore US jump wings, but these were normally at the basic level of qualification.
