atb Posted November 7, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 7, 2017 French WW1 style and color overseas cap for wear by members of the 40 and 8 Society. It is an American Legion sub-group, I think. You often see their membership medals erroneously described as WW1 railway unit medals. "40 and 8" refers to the French railway boxcars in which Doughboys were transported. Apparently the 40/8 organization is still around but from the looks of the pins I have, I can't figure out exactly what they do. It seems to relate to nursing.
