darksidesw Posted November 6, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2017 Hello all! I am looking for help IDing this DUI. I've done some of my own searching and was not successful! This came from the estate of a WWII 12th Armor vet, who also served with the 100th ID, 397th IR at the end of the war. My best guess is this is a unit assigned to the 12th Armor, but just a guess. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks-Jeff PS. Also note the odd marking. It looks like it is supposed to be Gemsco NY but the S is a 2 and the N is backward! rufus_firefly Posted November 6, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 6, 2017 119th armored Engineer Battalion. The motto fits as do the colors, red and white. Can’t find my ASMIC catalog.

patches Posted November 6, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2017 Found a few photos of these troops in the immediate post war occupation period, 119th Armd Eng Bn DI just might be the one they're wearing. Since it's a U.S. made one as opposed to those theater made German types where acustomed to seeing, you know those unauthorized but locally approved ones, perhaps it's a late war made one, made when the use of brass for DIs and a few other insignias where lifted. patches Posted November 6, 2017 Share #6 Posted November 6, 2017 And one more. These great photos come from the division's site, and it's worth noting that stateside photos do not show a DI being worn, thus the thought it was a late war adopted, if unofficially semi officially or officially. http://www.12tharmoredmuseum.com/photoalbum_02.asp?c=119th%20Armored%20Engineer%20Battalion
