"June 6 1944" Bouncing Betty Landmine

Recommended Posts

Here is something very interesting I picked up recently. It is an SMi-35 antipersonnel landmine, captured with "June 6 1944" and "Normandy Beach" painted on the top. The green color of the mine was used in Western Europe, whereas the tan painted version was used more in the east. Thanks for looking

Now THAT is a beauty! Any background on it? Someone brought home a cool souvenir!!

Unfortunately I have no other information, but I will ask the seller. I can only assume whoever brought it back had a special affinity for ordnance, and was probably not on the front line as this thing is hefty - almost 10 pounds.
