Wlundy Posted November 3, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2017 I own my fair share of M1 helmets but this fixed bail navy helmet fell in my lap for a good price so I got it. Haven't ever had much interest in Navy M1's as they're a little pricey for grey paint instead of OD so I have never studied them or paid much attention to them. Just looking for some opinions of if this is a pretty solid example of a Navy helmet (even thought it's a little rough and missing some pieces). Still don't understand why all my pictures upload sideways.

Burning Hazard Posted November 3, 2017 Share #6 Posted November 3, 2017 Nice salty Navy helmet! Just a heads up, the leather liner chinstrap looks like an Euro clone. Pat
Ducatimonster1944 Posted November 3, 2017 Share #7 Posted November 3, 2017 Nice helmet! Concerning sideway pictures I guess you have an Apple?...
sigsaye Posted November 3, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 3, 2017 Perfect example of a Navy helmet that rust stripe around the front is from sitting in a rack, out on deck, with a bunch of other helmets stacked on top of it. When you look inside the shell, you see that "pool" of rust? That's from sitting upside down in the stack and filling full of water. Yeah, guys just tossed them back in the rack and the next guy tossed his in the same way In 1973, on my first ship I pulled a fixed bail helmet out o the rack. I thought how stupid is this? These things break so easy!
