WWII Mussette bag with POM markings

​I picked this up recently, I thought it was interesting with the POM markings and the spade. Does anyone know what unit this would correspond with? The bag is rubberized and dated 1943. I believe the long number on the front is the POM designation number,I think the 4 numbers on the strap and under the flap are the soldier's partial serial number.

Thanks for the link. Lot's of great information on the site. I don't see the number corresponding with this bag. Seems there is still a lot more to learn about these numbers and symbols.

Hi,

 

All Unit Serial Numbers beginning with 5 are assigned to AAF units. The red spade also painted on it indicates that this was issued to the 9th AAF (tactical marking of the unit):
