USMC-RECON0321 Posted October 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2017 Tonight when dropping off one of my sons friends from school I went in to talk to the parents and noticed this on the wall. This was his fathers (he was born when his dad was in his 40's) His father entered the Marines in 1944 and continued to serve on active duty until losing the lower part of his left arm in the Korean War. The son didn't know much about his dads service other than what is on the wall. He has his entire foot locker also, but we didn't have time to go through it. I plan to help him get his father's service records, so he can learn more about his service time. Anyway, I never seen a badge like this and I also noticed he has 2 purple hearts, but the son only knew of the obvious battle wound (Loss of an arm). Hard to see in the picture, but the ribbon rack in the case of his actual uniform ribbons has a star on the purple heart ribbon. Troy

USMC-RECON0321 Posted December 1, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted December 1, 2017 Very interesting. It must've been a small unit SOP to have badges in use on Guam I'm thinking?
