Arizona State Capital - Wesley Bolin Plaza

Anyone who has some time to spare in Phoenix should stop by Wesley Bolin Plaza outside the State Capital Building.

Many different memorials to AZ veterans of all eras.

They just dedicated an expanded monument to the USS AZ that presents two original WWII battleship guns on each side of a walkway. Quite impressive, I have only seen it once briefly. If I recall correctly, the name of all lost that day are represented on small metal tags. The area is also home to the states Fallen Police Officer Memorial. It really is a beautiful park just in front of our Capitol and worth seeing. Kevin

Yes, here is the 14in tube from the USS Arizona. In the background is a 16in tube from the USS Missouri. These are to commemorate the beginning and the end of WW2.

*Note* the 14in tube was not on the AZ when she was attacked at Pearl Harbor. The tube was off of the ship being relined.
