Salvage Sailor Posted August 16, 2018 Author Share #29 Posted August 16, 2018 Amphibious Squadron 11 (COMPHIBRON ELEVEN), the only forward deployed PHIBRON, Sasebo, Japan. http://www.public.navy.mil/surfor/cpr11/Pages/default.aspx#.W3YFwuhKhhG Commander, Amphibious Squadron (COMPHIBRON) 11 is the newest and only forward deployed amphibious squadron in the U.S. Navy. Based out of Sasebo, Japan, the squadron consists of four ships with the flagship amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) at its core. PHIBRON 11 is permanently embarked aboard Bonhomme Richard which has made port calls not only in Japan, but all around the western Pacific. Cut edge patch circa 1960's Established in the early 1960's for the Cuban Blockade, the USS HERMITAGE (LSD-34) was the flagship for COMPHIBRON TWELVE serving in the Atlantic fleet and in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.
