GWS Posted October 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2017 I'm a day late in posting this, but yesterday was the 100th anniversary of this 96th Marine Company photo. I would have posted this yesterday but was at a militaria show all weekend and just too tired to remember it. Semper Fi.
warguy Posted October 23, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2017 Very cool, a whole lot of 100 year anniversaries for these Marines and those like them coming our way. I am looking forward to all of the posts over the next year. Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Brig Posted October 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2017 Fantastic image. I was in the 96th in Afghanistan. A lot of history right there. Have you identified Clifton Cates in it? He joined the company in August 1917
GWS Posted October 29, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted October 29, 2017 Yes, Clifton Cates appears between Capt. Donald Duncan and Lt. Thomas Brailsford who were both KIA during June 1918 at Belleau Wood. The previous post concerning this photo was back in 2014. I just wanted to recognize the 100th anniversary of the original photo. 96th Co. 6th Marines Quantico Oct.22,1917 yardlong
