Another small detail it appears the top of the chute canopy on the wings were polished smooth.

 

I have a similiar set on a ike found in a thrift shop many moons ago by a friend.

Just to use some abstract thinking, is it possible he was shuffled into a glider unit for Market Garden then did jump training in England?

Thanks for posting these great jackets. Another thought, could the upper lapels have sported 504th DI's at one time?

Possibly, but the upper lapels had ghosting from collar brass.

That's a super nice 504th! I've got one too (unnamed) in the collection. Who knows....maybe they served together.

Nice! Would love to see the rest of the ike!
