huntssurplus Posted October 16, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 16, 2017 Hey guys, I picked up this helmet off of ebay today for a decent price, was wondering what you guys think about the markings. They look good to me but I am open to opinions. Looks like there are other markings on it too, such as the X on the right side of the helmet and the other big splotches of paint around the shell. Thanks in advance for the help Hunt http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-WW2-US-American-Front-Seam-Swivel-bail-Shell-Painted-Insig-Staff-Sergeant-/263254688065?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&autorefresh=true&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=%252FSBF%252FRWwVwlVDMuAwS27ABgWoJA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc sorry for small pictures

huntssurplus Posted October 18, 2017 Author Share #16 Posted October 18, 2017 I didn’t find a heat stamp or name in the shell sadly. But I’m wondering about the blotches of paint on the helmet, almost like a camo. It might just be paint drops but there are enough of them to the point where I am not sure. Interested in your guys opinions. Hunt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
huntssurplus Posted October 18, 2017 Author Share #17 Posted October 18, 2017 I can post better pictures if asked, but I am wondering if $31 was a good deal on this shell? Thanks Hunt

1canpara Posted October 19, 2017 Share #19 Posted October 19, 2017 If I let my imagination take a swing at those paint blotches, I'd say they look like a crossed cannon, an artillery shell or an aerial bomb, a skull, a round blob, an oblong blob and a WWI tank ...I think it's a great buy at $31! IMG_3758.JPG IMG_3759.JPG Thats a very nice pot! And i guess I got excited about the blotches lol. There might have been more of them but because of the helmets condition they have since been covered by the rust. Who knows though. One can only dream about the many secrets an object such as a helmet can hide never to be found. Hunt
