Hello,

Does a chaplain wears a officer Garrison cap with the branch insignia on the left and what would be the measurement of this branch insignia? Would his rank be on the left side of the Garrison cap, and how about his rank?

Thank's

Erik

By regulation a chaplain will wear their rank on the garrison cap. However, some chaplains would still wear a cross or the tablets. For several reasons, one being that the WWI chaplain in Europe mostly but not always would wear the cross per Gen Pershing. This was a way to identify with the WWI chaplain. Today on the army beret a chaplain wears their faith insignia.

If osd is the Office of the Sec of Def, shoot me pm with your .mil address. I will provide more history, specific regulations and background. Perhaps with the latest pinks and greens at AUSA the garrison cap may come back.
