trenchfoot Posted October 8, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2017 A recent surplus store pickup. They never seem to pay attention to the patches, and I snagged this one. This jacket has an odd combination of patches. The questions I have are: Is that paratrooper patch iraqi? What person could have worn a uniform in this configuration? atb Posted October 8, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 8, 2017 Isn't that the USN/USMC parachute badge that is higher than the Army-style Basic Parachute one? The metal version for the dress uniform is gold-colored.
trenchfoot Posted October 8, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted October 8, 2017 Thats quite possible, it just looked really similar to the iraqi para insignia I've seen. Ill definitely look into that.
trenchfoot Posted October 8, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted October 8, 2017 Heres the USN para badge. Is it just me or is the style a little off on the patch?
BagmanL6 Posted October 8, 2017 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2017 Evening. It is the USMC/USN Parachutist Insignia. Basically its earned for being in a billet requiring airborne operations in addition to a certain number and type of jumps. It's combination with the Surface Warfare badge isn't common but not completely unusual either. Could have been a support person in the Naval Special Warfare Community; member of a Naval Gunfire Spot Team assigned to USMC ANGLICO; etc. It's a nice pickup. Good eye.
