Dug Up Cannonballs Tennessee

Recommended Posts

If you have the ability - like maybe with a set of dial calipers - you may want to provide diameter measures. That will help the knowledgeable forum folk to tell you what you have. I know they are sitting on a milk crate of standard size, but that would alleviate a lot of CSI gyrations. Thanks for posting.

I can't speak for all of them, but anything that is out of round is NOT a cannonball. And if they were "recovered" together that doesn't lend any confidence that the others would be.

"Cannonballs" have to have specific diameters and weights otherwise they don't work very well and could have catastrophic results.

The ball in the 2nd row,3 o'clock looks to have a plug. It could also be a sprue cut or a rust spot, hard to tell. I would make sure it is not an explosive one.Black powder is some nasty stuff.
