Bird character in orange oval. Is this a USAF Patch

I received this patch in a group of Air Force items including two Tactical Air Command patches. Is this patch Air Force related? The TAC patches and the patch shown look to be older pieces possibly 1960s - 70s. Any input will be appreciated.

This I believe is called a Googlefinch, this bird is often seen on USAF novelty patches and since I collect Army I cannot remember the story. I am sure a google search may shed some light on the story. Start with that and hope you find out something...

Jeff I think you mean the oozlefinch which was the Artillery mascot. The oozlefinch looks like a plucked ostrich with a long neck.

Looks machine made to me, a shot of the back will help. As Bob said the oozlefinch was army. The only USAF patch I've seen where it shows up on the 4758 DSES/1 ATS patch. That unit worked closely with the army ADA at Ft. Bliss to provide aerial "targets" (F-100s, B-57s) for training. Thus it shows a little humor as seen in the design.
