stratasfan Posted September 25, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2017 Amazing! Is that the original paint on the bottom one? I had no idea they were so vividly coloured! Thanks for sharing!
patches Posted September 26, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2017 Nice. Strat, as a reference, when one see's these britghtly painted WWI helmets, they are 1919 helmets, done up this way by returning troops, they should not be considered as worn in combat, for one, the shoulder patch painted on the front is another hallmark of the type. Here's some others. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/287893-ww1-painted-helmet-1st-army-21st-engineers/ http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3723-thoughts-on-this-ww1-painted-tank-corps-helmet/ And this Mega Topic. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4139-wwi-painted-helmets/
34armor Posted September 26, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted September 26, 2017 Yeah both are to soliders that served. I know they painted the helmets after the armistice. My Grandfather was in the 36th Div. from Texas. My older brother has his painted helmet with the 36th patch on front.
