Will Aguilar Posted October 23, 2021 Share #551 Posted October 23, 2021 This type of buckle with that kind of lock mechanism started sometimes the 70s or 80s. The 40's to 60's are with loop hole for snap on belt.
easterneagle87 Posted October 23, 2021 Share #552 Posted October 23, 2021 Going to let this one pass as it's ending on the 'bay today. Still waiting to add a HD buckle to the pile, but not today.
easterneagle87 Posted October 23, 2021 Share #553 Posted October 23, 2021 Nice brassy USMC - EGA buckle that got snapped recently up at a very reasonable price.
dpcsdan Posted October 24, 2021 Share #554 Posted October 24, 2021 Over the last month I sold off the dozen or so of these belt buckles from my collection. Here's one I recently had Will create to commemorate my time in Saigon. I'll pass it on to my son or daughter. Excellent job, Will!

PhilippineBuckles Posted October 29, 2021 Author Share #558 Posted October 29, 2021 Not me. But I did buy this ugly but rare one without any engraving. I think the solder drop, punch with a "C" in the middle, and "Dremel" scratches all over the top were someone experimenting. Based on the back, I'd say its 1960s +/-
Will Aguilar Posted October 30, 2021 Share #559 Posted October 30, 2021 Yes, that is definitely a 60's buckle. Get it engraved.
easterneagle87 Posted October 30, 2021 Share #560 Posted October 30, 2021 Another that sold today on the 'bay, USS Hassayampa, Retail Services Specialist. It started at a really good opener, then sold for a pretty reasonable figure.
easterneagle87 Posted November 11, 2021 Share #561 Posted November 11, 2021 Latest sold on 'bay; Naval Surface Reserve Force, William J. Cashman Nice buckle, a different subject than most generic or ships and planes.
mikie Posted November 11, 2021 Share #562 Posted November 11, 2021 I may have said it before, but if so, it bears repeating. I don't have any of these buckles, but I'm loving seeing all the examples you folks are showing here. These buckles are all really cool. Keep 'em coming. PhilippineBuckles Posted November 11, 2021 Author Share #563 Posted November 11, 2021 Not many 1940s buckles sell on ebay anymore, but this one did show up. Had to pay through the nose for it though... Tom Thompson Fleet Weather Central US Navy 46 Philippines
vforvictory1945 Posted November 11, 2021 Share #564 Posted November 11, 2021 Bill - Nice find. I didn't even see that one show up in any of the completed auction searches I ran. It must have flown under the radar. Very cool!!!
vforvictory1945 Posted November 11, 2021 Share #565 Posted November 11, 2021 Interesting lot up on Ebay. Philippines is misspelled so here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255221793051 That's the earliest Shriner's buckle I've seen to date. PhilippineBuckles Posted November 12, 2021 Author Share #566 Posted November 12, 2021 Hey Ryan: Here is the ebay #234260896201 for the Tom Thompson buckle which sold Nov. 4th. I think it was Chris who was bidding against me.... I like the Shiner buckle. I'm not sure if I posted them before but here are two Masonic buckles from 1945
vforvictory1945 Posted November 13, 2021 Share #567 Posted November 13, 2021 Bill - Thanks for sharing the Ebay number. That has to be the coolest and oldest aerographer buckle I've seen to date. It flew under my radar but have a 1948 dated aerographer buckle so I wouldn't have bid anyway but that being said yours is a nicer buckle. Thanks for sharing the Mason buckles as well. I've seen the L. E. Antonius one on Worthpoint but never have seen the F. E. Pipe one. That sucker definitely has some saltiness to it. Both are very nice. Ebay has been having a bit of lull point on the buckles lately but it's always nice to see what turns up.
easterneagle87 Posted November 14, 2021 Share #568 Posted November 14, 2021 One of the bonus' of working nights is finding the occasional gem before it widely seen. Here is a little beaut I snagged on a BIN. USS White Plains, AFS-4 @philippinebuckles, those Mason buckles are pretty interesting. @vforvictory1945, that grouping with the Shriners is impressive. easterneagle87 Posted November 20, 2021 Share #569 Posted November 20, 2021 This one has been on ebay for a while. Is it stamped OR carved? Similar style to the Philipp ones, but is it?

FlyNavy02 Posted November 20, 2021 Share #571 Posted November 20, 2021 Had this buckle for about 25 years but never figured what the unit Blake served with. The dice suggest a 34th, perhaps an aviation unit. The smoking skull is similar to USN VA-34/VFA-34 but without the top hat and cane. Also similar to the USAF 310th Fighter Squadron. Any thoughts on unit and time period appreciated.

FlyNavy02 Posted November 20, 2021 Share #573 Posted November 20, 2021 Here is one for Craig Harris, USCG.
PhilippineBuckles Posted November 21, 2021 Author Share #574 Posted November 21, 2021 @FlyNavy02 Thank you for posting your two buckles. Given the dice have 34 on them and the skull has a cigarette I'd lean with VA-34 or VFA-34. The large oval Philippine "vanity" buckle also suggests USN (n>50 examples I know of) rather than USAF (just 2 examples I know of). The solid thick metal oval without any cutouts also suggests an early vanity buckle which could be late 60s or early 70s. VA-34 was in the Pacific in the late 60s. "From May to December 1967, the squadron deployed to the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War aboard USS Intrepid. This was the squadron's first combat action since 1945. Attack Squadron 34 was disestablished on 29 May 1969." (Wikipedia). When the the squadron was reestablished in 1970 as VFA-34 it looks like it basically was stationed to the Med rather than Pacific. So I'd lean toward late 1960s pending further investigation.
PhilippineBuckles Posted November 21, 2021 Author Share #575 Posted November 21, 2021 The USCG Craig Harris buckle is nice too and is most likely from the 1960s. It is similar to this buckle for Bill...
