I have never been in a position to inspect an M1880 helmet. Are the cork spacers between shell and liner moveable to fit the wearer's head, or fixed in the manufacturing process?

It's actually an 1889 pattern helmet, which has a slightly different brim shape than the 1880 pattern. These are some of my favorite US helmets, and I've never seen one marked as a subcontract piece to Ridabock. Very cool.

Nice, I have its twin. I display it with Span Am vintage Marine Corps items as the Marines also wore it during that time frame. I have always liked this model helmet. Missed a chance at an original white lacquered chin strap to put on it years ago and have regretted missing the opportunity ever since.
