JMF Posted September 5, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2017 Found this at a flea market today. Knife look original? Does not appear to be original sheath, correct? If not, does anyone know what knife the sheath would be for? From what I've read, these were Aussie made and used by USMC? Knife is unmarked. Thanks. Blacksmith Posted September 5, 2017 Share #5 Posted September 5, 2017 At a flea market?! Wow. Knife looks right to me, and my gut is sheath is right too, albeit repaired / modified. However, experts will be along soon. I wish my flea markets had stuff like that. Congrats.

doyler Posted September 5, 2017 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2017 Nice original Aussie knuckle Scabbard may be original but trimmed down. typically these knives had a scabbard with cross strap

Yes, thought the original scabbard was as you pictured but also thought that my scabbard seemed a bit similar in make.
Blacksmith Posted September 5, 2017 Share #9 Posted September 5, 2017 I'm confident that's the original scabbard, trimmed to a more conventional shape. The keeper with the snap is fished through two crudely cut slots, and likely came from a different sheath altogether. The three 'popcorn' rivets look right as well.
