ocsfollowme Posted September 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2017 It's an ROTC patch that I posted about a year ago. Would take me a while to find it on the forum. It used to be wrongly IDd as an engineer unit

vintageproductions Posted September 3, 2017 Share #9 Posted September 3, 2017 Here it is http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/257368-unknown-rotc-patch-originally-thought-to-be-cavalry-patch/?hl=1629th If this is supposed to be ROTC how come all the ones we see are usually Japanese raw silk, hand embroidered? Plus, I think there was one in the patch shirt I posted awhile ago that only had occupation Japanese made patches on it.

lamarhooten Posted September 3, 2017 Share #12 Posted September 3, 2017 The patch pictured in the first post is not the 1629th Eng. The patch pictured in the 11th post is the 1629th Eng. I will give good money to anyone who can show me and others anything different. Just my 2 cents worth. Will be at ASMIC in afew days and will pay up if need be. Am I missing something here? The one on your jacket looks like a complete different design, similar. but very different.
tredhed2 Posted September 3, 2017 Share #14 Posted September 3, 2017 This North Phoenix HS JROTC - not military - is often confused with the 1629th Engr Bn. Note the change in overall shape and that the horse's head is angled across it's neck; more importantly, the colors. The JROTC patch (US made) is always red, white, blue and yellow. There is also a DI with the same design and colors, but it is definitely a smooth edged shield shape. Every single 1629th Engr Bn patch I have seen is red and white, engineer colors and Japanese made. The horse is always "snorting". Shapes vary, but they have a point in the base. Attached are the JROTC patch and two 1629th Engr Bn patches.
