Brian uk Posted September 2, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2017 Hi All question regards the use of ECH helmets that are now being produced, are these helmets currently in use by the USMC or are they being used by the Infantry also? Ive heard somewhere that they are expensive to produce and will only be used by specialist units?? any information on these helmets would be greatly appreciated thanks brian
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted September 2, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 2, 2017 They are used by the USMC, US Navy and US Army, because of how expensive they are they are only being issued to deploying troops, who presumably turn them back in for the next guy to use. The USMC will soon issue them to all Marines The US Army uses the Class II retention system (chinstrap and nape pad) which is H-Back The USMC and US Navy use the Class retention system which is X-Back
Brian uk Posted September 2, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted September 2, 2017 Many thanks for the info, greatly appreciated. on another note, I have 4 ach Lids which i'm hoping to get Afghanistan patched era covers for, failing trying to get the original ones, i'll buy the patches and covers to do myself, but on looking at the various pictures of the different units wearing patches on their lids, i see some units have a patch on each side and some only patch one side?? is this just something each unit does or is there something else too it?? cheers Brian
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted September 2, 2017 Share #4 Posted September 2, 2017 Yeah it's by the unit, some units do it on both sides, some on one, and some have a different one on each side. Make sure to mark them inside as fake.
Brian uk Posted September 2, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted September 2, 2017 thanks for the info, i'm trying to get the originals but if i do need to sew my own on, then i will do , they're for my display only! RedLegGI Posted September 5, 2017 Share #6 Posted September 5, 2017 thanks for the info, i'm trying to get the originals but if i do need to sew my own on, then i will do , they're for my display only! When you decide you no longer want to have them in your collection, or you change focus. You may have the best of intentions for your personal use, but once they leave your hands, its no longer up to you and your intentions.
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted September 5, 2017 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2017 But if you mark them as fake somewhere that's out of sight when displaying
Brian uk Posted September 5, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted September 5, 2017 Thanks for the reply's Gents, your correct in what you say, it is fakes that is destroying the Hobby and after thinking about it, i'll leave my collection of ACH helmets alone with the original covers they came with until i can obtain a few Genuine been there done it covers, I have my feelers out but no luck yet, I didn't feel happy making up my own for my display in the first place, at the end of the day, its the original items we crave for. cheers brian
