attached below are the official figures given in the ' United States Army in WWII Procurement Statistics ' for M-1 helmet sweatbands and nape-bands manufactured in WWII, sorry to say I haven't so far found leather chin strap figures.

Interesting topic. Not to be difficult but those figures can't possibly be accurate for the whole of WW2. Maybe one manufacturer?

Hi Iron Bender, the figures have to be multiplied by a thousand so another three noughts have to added to the figures, sweatbands 43,904,000, nape bands 46,314,000.

 

M1 helmets is given as 22,756,000

 

Food statistics are given in millions of pounds weight.

 

It also list in the medical lists 1,617,117, 1quart bottles of Whiskey :lol:

40+ million seems reasonable. That's about two per helmet.
