Steindaddie Posted August 28, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 28, 2017 Interesting photo snapped from another B-17 over England. The aircraft in question, "Bad Penny" was part of the 324th Bomb Squadron, and, as the photo caption states, was used as a camera ship in the filming of Memphis Belle. Judging by the aircraft's position, and the gathered crowd, it seems the "Bad Penny" has lived up to its namesake, and upon returning from a mission has had an "eventful" arrival. GITom1944 Posted September 13, 2017 Share #6 Posted September 13, 2017 Interesting to see the medium green scallop type camo on dome on some areas & not on others. Looks like the ailerons and one of the horizontal stabilizers were replaced at some point. Great photo! Tom
Quitcherbitchen Posted September 25, 2017 Share #7 Posted September 25, 2017 Interesting to see Red Cliburn as the pilot of "Bad Penny" . He was the pilot of "quitchurbitchen" which got shot up pretty bad on one mission that it was retired. I have the only picture of "quitchurbitchen" I think.
