TRUST Trieste Painted Helmet Liner

Greetings! I found this one recently and am very excited to share it. This is one of the early occupation-era units that I collect and I was lucky to see this one surface. The insignia is for the TRUST troops stationed in Trieste, Italy from 1947-1954 and largely drawn from the 88th Infantry Division.

This Westinghouse liner wears a heavy coat of varnish over the paint, which has yellowed over the years. The residue seen on the crown is from the leather sweatband of another helmet liner that was stacked on top of it for a long time. Inside the liner and strap are in impeccable shape and neatly named to the veteran. His obit indicates WWII and KW service, a Purple Heart, and retirement from the Army in 1965.

Certainly not one seen every day. All comments and feedback always most welcomed!
