Moonlight Gecko Posted August 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2017 I recently picked up a M2 Ammo Bag marked USMC BOYT 44. I haven't seen a USMC marked Ammo bag before. Does anyone else have one in their collection or know how commonly they were issued?
Steve1987 Posted September 6, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 6, 2017 Hi, It appears to be a common M2 ammunition bag in late war OD7. I believe it was 'enhanced' with a U.S.M.C. stamp by a dealer at some point to bring more money, a common strategy with common US Army field gear. You can actually see the ink for the USMC marking is not the same as the BOYT 44 marking, while on every original Boyt USMC item the ink is the same, and fades the same. I don't know of any USMC marked M2 ammunition bags that I believe to be original, although the Marines did use Army ones. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. robinb Posted September 7, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2017 I agree that the USMC and Boyt markings have been added to enhance it. Here's my USMC used but not USMC marked M2 ammo vest.
