Anyone recall the movie Memphis Belle? I had the opportunity to meet Robert Morgan at an air show in Charlotte several years before he passed. He was signing photos, so I just had to get one! It was so sad to hear of his passing. He really was a very personable guy!

My wife, the wonderful woman she is, found my want list one Christmas, and bought this signed book for my present off ebay. Gawd, how I love my wife!

here's the inscription. Years before on a trip up to Winchester for a Civil War reenactment, I stopped in Arlington Cemetary. I paid homage to many graves of my heroes, Pappy's being one of them.

At the same Air Show in Charlotte, where I met Robert Morgan, Tom Ferebee (of Enola Gay fame) and native North Carolinian, was there, too! I got him to sign a photo for me too. I guess I did not enunciate or speak loudly enough, because he signed it to "Jerry," rather than Gary. That's OK. I went an entire year at Camden Military Academy with my science teacher writing my name on my report card as "Jerry."

This seems to be an original wartime photo of Ike I picked up in an antique store near Waxhaw, NC. Incredible clarity. It's about 11 x 17 inches in size. I think I might sell this one, as my wife won't let me put everything on the walls of our home.

For some reason, my favorite things to collect are custom racks. Here's a good two-war vet's. For whatever reason, the ribbons are still sewn to the uniform, but was cut from the jacket. At the bottom center, I believe is a korean award, the Ulchi, I think. Haven't been able to find much information on that award. If you can offer additional info, please do. It has a silver star over the typical Korean ying/yang symbol.

I love this one. I suspect it was a Navy officer that turned staff weanie during WWII. Since the Navy DSC's aren't all that common like campaign medals, but in combination with the old campaigns, could there be any way to come up with some logical owners of this rack?

This one is another favorite. I feel certain it was a vet from the Italian Campaign. Just a shame how damaged it is. Any ideas on the foreign ribbons?

Last one for tonight. My understanding was that the Army produced a series of these "restricted" booklets for the Normandy invasion, to be distributed to the troops only when in route by sea. There were several diferent versions based on which area they were to land, and which are they were to proceed once beyond the beach head. A wealth of information, it's very much like a tourist guide, but I can see how it would be helpful. Problem is, the guys that were too use them most likely needed much more time to review and study them before landing. In any case, it's an interesting piece.
