Some of my Presidential and Vice Presidential service badges. These things are pretty heavy, but if you're wearing ASU's with your medals, this would help balance the weight on the coat.

Silver Star to a Liberty Division soldier in the Pacific. Unfortunately, someone attempted to deface the engraving on the reverse of the medal. The Silver Star is numbered 53830.

One of my favorites, the very first medal issued by the North Carolina National Guard, with it's original box and the recipient's information hand written on the inside of the box top.

One last thing. It's not technically militaria, but super cool nonetheless. When my grandparents passed, it came down to me to clean out the house. They were pack rats, to say the least. I found some really cool things, and alot that should have just been thrown away long ago. When going thru their attic, I found some things like an original Gone With the Wind movie poster, but it was all eaten up by squirrels, so basically worthless. I did find this...an inaguration invitation to my great grandparents for Eisenhower's Presidential inaguration. I could not believe my good fortune! I's a beautifully printed document!

Dear Arclight:

I am a new member, browsing the forum today and saw your post - above.

I had the privilege of knowing your grandfather. He was a valued member of the Fairfax (Virginia) Lions Club, for many years. I believe Ev had been on the staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and had served as the US Ambassador to New Guinea in the 1980's. He always comported himself with dignity and respect, a great American! I am happy you have a few wonderful items to remember his life.

I appreciate your kind comments, but I am afraid you may have Everette confused with someone else. He passed in the sixties before I was born. I only know him through others recollections and his enduring reputation.
