mvmhm Posted August 15, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2017 This small group literally walked in the door at closing time today - a very nice green blouse with everything on it, his enlistment certificate, discharge certifcate, and a mint conditioned great coat (not shown). Lookng at the Muster Rolls..it looks like he was with the 3rd at Bouganville and Guam, but was sent to hospital in October 1944 and discharged in February 1945. There's no Purple Heart ribbon, so I assume he had malaria, combat fatigue, or suffered a non-combat injury that ended his service. The 3rd MarDiv SSI is embroidered on twill. It's got a very nice ribbon bar, and perfect matched EGAs. I didn't think to snap a picture of the sleeve lining. Mark sends

P-40Warhawk Posted August 15, 2017 Share #6 Posted August 15, 2017 Nice uniform, wonder why he was discharged? It had to be something like you mentioned. He took care of it.

P-40Warhawk Posted August 16, 2017 Share #8 Posted August 16, 2017 I know they recalled a lot of guys that were on the retired list, but I thought it was interesting how his discharge is signed 'Major, Retired, U.S.M.C.'. Would have thought the 'retired' would be omitted when recalled?
