The helmet is named and it appears the officer was a doctor.I have never researched the helmet and the seller didn't offer a lot of information

The box contains some medial type slides with numbered information.

Maybe something left over from his medical school days?

Canteen and Mess kit.Inside the mess kit there was two fork and spoon combo utensils

You can see even some dried dirt left on the lid of the mess kit and its dated 1944

He sold me this canteen but it appears to not belong to the Captain.

I almost took this to a show for sale once as it was a duplicate.

Pulled it out to check the date and then pulled the cup from the carrier....never know what hides in the canteen carrier.

Some awesome items you got there! I would have been beating myself had I accidentally let such a great trench art piece go.

Thanks

Couple things I have learned is you always look in the pockets and never think something common may not hold a treasure

Doing a bit of quick looking may have found him

Dr.Herman H Rhoad 1909-1951

He is buried in(Rippey Ia) Green County and head stone states he was a Lt.Colonel. THe area is very close to where the items were purchased.

Also seen some records on ancestry and one was listed for the 63rd Inf Division.
