fstop61 Posted July 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2017 Damn, I'm going to buy a Dodge pick-up and head out to Arizona, perhaps I can find a Hellcat or even a Corsair that's been sitting around in an aircraft boneyard for seventy years. https://youtu.be/pR5dpRTc1C0
McDermut99 Posted July 28, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2017 I was thinking of doing the same thing! Who knows, maybe I'll be as lucky as those guys and find one that has a perfect period correct paint job and only takes a little "tuning" to get running! And find a pilot rated for such an aircraft! It's a very cool commercial, so long as your not too much of a literal thinker!
gwb123 Posted July 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted July 28, 2017 Amazing how quickly they turned that aircraft around to the point it could be buzzing the airfield! I about choked when I first saw that one... of course, you would find a nearly complete, but dust covered, Hellcat in a field full of defunct jet airliners. Garandomatic Posted July 28, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 28, 2017 I think I've had that same dream since i was 8... I might actually buy a mopar if it came with a warbird! (No offense meant to the mopar guys... We've all got our favorites)
USARV72 Posted July 28, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 28, 2017 Sheesh, I' d settle to have my 68 Roadrunner back. Heard that he Navy never gives up their A/C? Friend was restoring a Dauntless years ago and was doing the USAAF version for this reason.
robinb Posted July 30, 2017 Share #9 Posted July 30, 2017 I drive a Dodge pickup but all I ever find are WW2 jeeps and trailers. Well, my post a few days ago proved to be prophetic. Just brought home another WW2 Jeep trailer today.
phantomfixer Posted July 31, 2017 Share #10 Posted July 31, 2017 Nice find...with the casting too...looks to be solid sheet metal...did they leave the rear panel alone
robinb Posted July 31, 2017 Share #11 Posted July 31, 2017 The rear panel is there but it's been cut into a tail gate. Both combat wheels are there as well.
