David D Posted July 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2017 Here is a recent addition to my WWI collection. A tag named to Cpl. Scott Ford of Company A, 111th Infantry 28th Division AEF. From what I have found during my research, Ford was with A/111 since the 28th went overseas in Spring of 1918. He also made it through the battles of the Marne in July 1918. However when the 28th advanced on to the village of Fismes and its twin village, Fismette which was directly across the Vesle River, Cpl. Scott Ford was gassed. The Division captured Fismes on August 4, 1918. But Ford was gassed 2 days earlier on the 2nd of August. It is unknown wether he returned to duty after his recovery or not. More research will conclude this.

David D Posted July 25, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted July 25, 2017 Thanks Kim. I've been fortunate enough that all the tags I own have the unit information still intact.
cperkins510 Posted July 25, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 25, 2017 Congrats on a beautiful piece. I actually have a tag from a member of the exact same company who served all the way through WWI. They must known each other. Wild stuff!

KRIS FORD Posted February 27, 2018 Share #18 Posted February 27, 2018 Ahh..MAYBE a distant cousin..my Ford side around that time was in TN...He'd have to be a relation to an Isaac or Nathan Ford to be in the bloodline.
