Wile it's true much of the former Ft. Ord reservation has been turned over to the CALSTATE University system, the Army still has a presence to this day. The Army still operates (under a contractor) base housing units for personnel assigned to the Presidio of Monterey, as well as personnel attending the Naval Post Graduate School. There is also a base Commissary Store, Post Exchange, Gas Station and Veterinary Clinic. The building which once housed the former Silas Hayes Army Community Hospital is now controlled by another federal agency.
